How to make a proforma invoice here
- Choose Domestic or Export, and your GST status.
- Enter your details and the buyer's.
- Check the place of supply. It decides CGST and SGST or IGST.
- Add each item with its HSN or SAC code, quantity, rate, discount and GST rate.
- Add the advance, terms, validity and bank details, then click "Print or save as PDF".
Our guide to the proforma invoice format has two filled samples.
What the generator works out
- Taxable value for each line: quantity times rate, less any discount.
- CGST and SGST at half the rate each when your state and the place of supply match, and IGST at the full rate when they differ. In Chandigarh, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, UTGST replaces SGST [7]. SEZ buyers always get IGST.
- Totals, a tax summary by rate, a round-off to the nearest rupee, and the advance and balance.
- The total in words: lakh and crore for rupees, thousand and million for other currencies.
- Warnings, never blocks, when a GSTIN's state code, an IEC's 10 characters or an IFSC's 11 characters look wrong [6][9][10].
FAQ
Is a proforma invoice from this generator valid for GST?
It is a proforma, not a tax invoice, so it carries no GST liability and the buyer cannot claim input tax credit on it. When you make the supply, issue a tax invoice with your next tax invoice number [1][2].
How does it choose CGST and SGST or IGST?
It compares your state with the place of supply, as the government's e-invoice system does. Same state means CGST and SGST. Different states or an SEZ buyer means IGST. For goods that move, the place of supply is where delivery ends [3][6].
Is my data saved or sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or stored, and there is no sign-up. Our analytics counts visits and print clicks, never what you type. Reloading clears the form, so save the PDF if you want a copy.
Can I make an export proforma invoice?
Yes. Switch to Export to add the currency, an Incoterms 2020 rule with its named place, ports, HS codes, packing and your SWIFT code. There is no GST line, because exports are zero-rated supplies [3][8].
Which GST rates can I pick?
0%, 5%, 18% and 40%. Since 22 Sep 2025, most goods and services are taxed at 5% or 18%, and a few at 40% [4]. For any other notified rate, choose Other. Check the rate for your HSN code.
