Autobot is made by Convogenie Technologies Private Limited ("Convogenie", "we"), Infantry Road, Bengaluru, India. This page explains what we collect when you use the Autobot app (on iPhone, Android, the web, and the Mac and Windows desktop apps) and this website, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do. Questions and requests go to support@getautobot.app.
In short
- You sign in with Google, Apple or your email address. We get your name and email address, never your password.
- Your assistant works by itself on its own cloud computer, in its own web browser and in the apps you connect. In chat, it waits for your OK only before it sends a message, posts publicly, or pays or orders through a connected app.
- Your messages, voice and the data your assistant works with go to our AI and voice providers only to run Autobot. Neither we nor our AI provider train AI models on your data.
- We don't sell your data and we don't show you ads.
What Autobot does
Autobot gives you a personal assistant you talk to in one chat, by typing or by voice. It has its own cloud computer with a web browser, so it can look things up, visit websites and fill in forms for you. It can also work in apps you connect, such as your email or calendar, run jobs on a schedule you ask for, such as a morning summary, and, if you connect your WhatsApp Business number, reply to your customers on WhatsApp. It acts on its own when you ask it to do something. In chat, the app asks for your OK only before it sends a message, posts publicly, invites someone, or pays, orders or buys through a connected app. A scheduled job you asked for runs on its own within what you asked it to do.
What we collect
- Your account. Your name and email address from Google, Apple or the email address you sign in with, handled by a sign-in provider; we never see your password. If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, we get Apple's relay address instead. The app also reports your time zone, and we record the IP address and device details of your requests. We work out your country from your IP address to check that you are in India.
- Invites. If you request an invite, we store your business name, what you want your assistant to do and where you heard about Autobot, and we reply to your email address. If you join with a code, we record whose code it was. The person who invited you sees your first name and whether you are on trial or have paid, and you see their first name.
- App identifier. The app creates a random identifier when it is installed, to tell your devices apart. It is not an advertising identifier and isn't used to track you across other apps or websites.
- Your chats. The messages between you and your assistant, the results of scheduled jobs, and the status of each task.
- Photos and files you send. Only the photos and files you choose to attach. They are stored on your assistant's cloud computer so it can work with them. The app doesn't access your photo library or files otherwise, and it doesn't use your camera.
- Voice. The microphone is used only while you hold the mic button. Your voice is sent to a speech-to-text provider to turn it into text, and the text becomes your message; we don't keep the recording. When your assistant replies out loud, the reply's text is sent to a voice provider to produce the speech, which is played on your device and not kept.
- Your assistant's memory. Notes your assistant keeps about you, such as your preferences, when you tell it to remember something or set a lasting preference. You can ask it to forget.
- Web browsing. Your assistant's browser visits websites and uses a web search service to do what you ask. If a website needs you to sign in, the app shows you that page and you sign in yourself; your assistant doesn't keep a copy of your password. The website's sign-in session then stays in your assistant's browser so it can keep working there, until you ask it to sign out or you delete your account.
- App connections. When you connect an app, the connection is made through a connection service that holds the access token or API key. We store which apps are connected and their status.
- Data from connected apps. While doing a task, your assistant reads and writes the data it needs, such as the emails in your inbox or the events in your calendar. That data is sent to our AI provider so the assistant can decide what to do, and what the assistant tells you in chat is stored with your chats. We don't copy the rest into our own systems.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token. A notification shows the start of your assistant's message and is delivered through Apple's or Google's notification service. You can turn notifications off in Settings.
- Payment. On our website or in the desktop app, our payment provider, acting as merchant of record, collects your payment details, billing address and GSTIN. In the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google takes the payment; we receive the store's purchase record (a transaction or purchase token, the plan and its renewal dates) to confirm your subscription. We store whether you are on a free trial or subscribed, and the relevant dates. We never see your card or UPI details.
- Usage. How much work your assistant does, to show your usage in the app and apply the allowance.
- Reports. If you report a reply, we store that reply and the message it answered, so we can review it.
- Analytics and advertising measurement. On this website, in the web version of the app and in the desktop apps, we use an analytics service to see which pages and steps people reach. The iPhone and Android apps don't include analytics or advertising tools. We advertise on Facebook and Instagram, so this website uses the Meta Pixel and our servers report sign-up and purchase events to Meta's Conversions API. For that, Meta receives your contact details in hashed form and the cookie and device identifiers it uses for matching, so it can tell which ad led to a sign-up or purchase. Meta may use this data under its own policy.
- Technical logs. Request logs and error reports, kept for 30 days.
We don't collect your phone's contacts, your location, or anything from your camera.
Why we use it
- To run Autobot: sign you in, answer your messages, do the tasks and scheduled jobs you ask for, deliver their results, and remember what you've asked your assistant to remember.
- To run your free trial and subscription, and bill you.
- To show your usage and apply the allowance.
- To support you, answer your requests and review replies you report.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To understand how the product and our ads perform.
- To meet legal obligations.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we process your personal data with the consent you give when you create an account and use Autobot, for the purposes above. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account; see "Your choices".
Who we share it with
We use a small number of providers to run Autobot, and each receives only what its part of the service needs: a sign-in provider; a connection service for the apps you connect; cloud providers that host our servers and your assistant's cloud computer; AI model providers that generate your assistant's responses, choose its tools and guide its web browsing, and use your data for nothing else; a speech-to-text provider and a voice provider; a telephone provider that carries calls to your Autobot number; a web search service; a network provider that carries your assistant's web browsing; Apple's and Google's notification services and a notification delivery service; an email delivery provider; a payment provider that acts as merchant of record, and Apple or Google when you pay in the app; an analytics service; and Meta for advertising measurement and, if you connect it, for WhatsApp. Some of these providers are outside India, and by using Autobot you agree to your data being processed there.
Beyond these, we share personal data only if the law requires it, to protect someone's rights or safety, or if Autobot changes hands, in which case the new owner is bound by this policy. We don't sell your data.
Your business, your customers' data
If you use Autobot for your business, the apps you connect usually contain other people's personal data: your customers, clients, leads and staff. That data is yours, and you are responsible for having the right to use it and to give your assistant access to it. We process it only to do what you ask, and we will help you delete it or answer a request about it.
WhatsApp for your business
If you connect your business's WhatsApp Business number, we process your customers' data on your behalf, only to run this feature for you: their WhatsApp phone numbers (or usernames), the names on their WhatsApp profiles, the messages, photos, voice notes and files they send, the replies and templates sent to them, and whether they have opted out of your marketing messages. Messages reach us from Meta and are stored on your assistant's cloud computer. If you also use the WhatsApp Business app on that number, Meta copies your existing WhatsApp contacts and recent chat history there too when you connect. Photos, voice notes and files are kept in our cloud file storage, voice notes are turned into text by our speech-to-text provider, and messages go to our AI model provider so your assistant can reply. Your assistant's WhatsApp replies can use only the items from your connected apps that you chose to share for this. You are responsible for having your customers' consent and for answering their requests about their data; we will help you.
Phone calls
If your account has an Autobot phone number, an AI answers the calls it gets, using the instructions and greeting you set. A telephone provider carries each call and streams its audio to our servers. While the call runs, a speech-to-text provider turns the caller's voice into text, our AI model provider writes the reply, and a voice provider speaks it. We don't record or keep call audio. For each call we keep, with your account, the caller's phone number, when it happened and how long it lasted, a transcript of what each side said, and a short summary. A note about the call also appears in your chat. The people who call are not Autobot users. We use their number and what they say only to run this feature for you. You are responsible for having your callers' consent and for answering their requests about their data; we will help you.
Emails from Autobot
We send you emails and phone notifications about your account: when your invite is ready, during your free trial, when it ends, when you subscribe, and now and then after that, such as what is new in Autobot. Some are written by AI from your account details: your sign-up answers, your invite request, and counts such as how many jobs you ran. They never use the contents of your chats, your connected apps or your WhatsApp. An email delivery provider sends them. We record when each email was sent and whether you clicked a link in it, to learn which emails help; we don't track whether you open them.
Every email has an unsubscribe link. After you unsubscribe, we only email you about your account, such as a payment or the end of your trial. If an email to you bounces or you mark one as spam, we stop emailing that address.
Google user data
If you connect a Google product such as Gmail, Google Calendar or Google Sheets, your assistant's use of that data is limited to what you asked it to do. We don't use Google user data for advertising, we don't sell it, we don't use it to train AI models, and nobody at Convogenie reads it except with your permission, to support you or fix a problem, or as needed for security or to comply with the law. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data.
- We don't train AI models on your data, and we don't allow our AI provider to.
- We don't show you ads, and we don't use what your assistant does to target ads.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps and websites from the iPhone or Android app.
- Nobody at Convogenie reads your chats, files or your connected apps' data unless you ask us to, we need to in order to support you, fix a problem or review a reply you reported, or we need to for security or to comply with the law.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections, each person's assistant runs on its own cloud computer separate from everyone else's, access tokens for your apps are not stored by us, links to your files expire after a few minutes, and access to our systems is limited to the people who run Autobot. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
How long we keep it
- Account, chats, files, memory, scheduled jobs, connections and usage: for as long as your account exists.
- When you tap Start fresh: the chat is cleared. Your assistant's memory, scheduled jobs and connected apps stay; ask your assistant to forget something, or delete your account to remove everything.
- When you remove an app: the connection is revoked at once.
- Voice: recordings and spoken replies are not kept.
- Phone calls: call audio is not kept. The transcript, summary and details of each call are kept for as long as your account exists.
- When you delete your account: we revoke your app connections, disconnect your WhatsApp number, delete your assistant's cloud computer with its files, memory, browser sessions and scheduled jobs, and delete your account and chats. From the app this happens at once; a request by email is completed within 30 days. Backups roll off within 7 days after that. We keep billing records for as long as tax and company law require.
- When your free trial or subscription ends and you don't subscribe: we may delete your assistant's cloud computer, chats and connections 30 days later. Ask us if you want it done sooner.
- Invites: if you delete your account, we keep a record that an invite code was used, without your details.
- Logs: 30 days.
Your choices
- Remove any app in Settings → Apps, pause your assistant in Settings, and turn notifications off in Settings or in your phone's settings.

- Unsubscribe from our emails with the link at the bottom of any email.
- Ask your assistant to forget something, or clear the chat with Start fresh.

- Complain. Write to us first at support@getautobot.app; if you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Autobot is for adults using it for work and is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children; if you think a child has signed up, write to us and we will delete the account.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date of the last change is at the top of this page; earlier versions are available on request.
