Copy the code, then dial it yourself in the Phone app. Some phones block dialling codes from a link, and Apple says iPhone blocks links that turn on call forwarding.

How to use the call forwarding code finder

  1. Pick your operator: Jio, Airtel, Vi or BSNL.
  2. Pick what you want to do. Choose "forward missed calls (all three kinds)" to set up an answering number in one go.
  3. Type the number calls should go to. A mobile number, or a landline number with its STD code, works with or without +91 or 0.
  4. Press Copy, open your Phone app, paste the code and press call. Wait for the message on screen, then call your number from another phone to test.

Which operator uses which code?

Airtel, Vi and BSNL use the standard GSM codes. Jio uses its own. Replace "number" with the 10-digit number you want calls sent to.

Since 15 April 2024 the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has told operators to stop USSD-based call forwarding, so a set-up code can be refused on your SIM [9]. Which codes does this finder use?

Airtel, Vi and BSNL get the standard GSM codes that their help pages print. Jio gets its own *401* family from Jio's help pages. We opened the pages on 20 October 2026, and read BSNL's from a copy saved on 7 February 2024 [3][4][5][6].

Why does my phone refuse the code?

Android shows "Connection problem or invalid MMI code" when a code fails. Since 15 April 2024 the DoT has told operators to stop USSD-based call forwarding, so a set-up code can be refused on your SIM. Use the Call forwarding screen in your phone settings or your operator's app instead [9][12].

Can I tap the code to dial it?

No. Phones can block dialling codes sent through links. Apple says an iPhone alerts you and blocks links that ask you to turn on call forwarding, because scammers use them. Copy the code, open the Phone app, paste it and press call [11].

Can I forward to a landline or an STD number?

Yes, if it has 10 digits once the 0 or +91 is removed, such as 1123456789 for 011 2345 6789. The GSM standard accepts a national number, a number with a leading 0 or one with +91 [8]. Jio says it does not forward to BSNL numbers, your own Jio number or international numbers [1].

Is the number I type saved or sent anywhere?

No. The page builds the code in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or stored, and there is no sign-up. Reloading clears the form.

How long does the phone ring before not answered forwarding starts?

The standard allows 5 to 30 seconds, in steps of 5, and your operator sets the default. You can pick a time here for Airtel, Vi and BSNL. Jio publishes no ring-time code. If your SIM refuses the code with a time, use the one without [7][8].
