A first WhatsApp message to a customer, or any message after 24 hours of silence, must go out as a Meta-approved template [1]. See the WhatsApp rules for payment reminders. Business SMS in India needs a registered sender ID and an approved template [8], and one SMS part holds 160 characters in English and 70 in Unicode [7].

Micro and small suppliers can add a line on interest, worked out with the MSME interest calculator. More templates are in our guide to payment reminder messages.

How to use the payment reminder message generator

  1. Pick the language, and how many days late the invoice is.
  2. Type the customer, the invoice number, the amount and the due date.
  3. Add your UPI ID or bank details. For a late invoice, add the date you want the money by.

FAQ

How many payment reminders should I send before taking action?

Five: before the due date, on it, and at 7, 15 and 30 days late, each a little firmer. After the final one, send a written demand or, for micro and small suppliers, file on the ODR portal.

Is a payment reminder on WhatsApp a utility or marketing message?

It should be utility, but Meta decides the category. An offer or discount line can make it marketing, which is charged and capped per person [2][3].

Do I need permission to send payment reminders on WhatsApp?

Yes. WhatsApp's policy lets you contact only people who agreed to receive messages. Add a line to your quotation or order form, such as "{business} will send invoices and payment updates to this number on WhatsApp", and stop when someone asks [4].

Can I charge interest on late payments?

That depends on your contract. A micro or small supplier with Udyam registration also gets interest by law: 3 times the RBI Bank Rate, compounded monthly, whatever the contract says [5][6]. Use the MSME interest calculator.

Is my data saved or sent anywhere?

No. The page builds the messages in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or stored, and there is no sign-up. Our analytics counts visits, never what you type. Reloading clears the form.
